For the first time in our workshops, we wanted to have an open shoot session where we prep the set and you have fun experimenting. This was a great way for our students to play around with the set and add work to their portfolios. Here’s how we did it:
We mounted an Amaran 300c to our overhead gantry system
This had a lantern modifier attached with a control skirt. This helped create a very soft and moody look
We had a second Amaran 300c on the side, on a rolling stand
This had a standard reflector modifier, bringing a strong beam of light to accentuate the fog
Our students got to try different light positions, intensities and colours. Plus, each person got a chance to show off their modelling skills!

What are AVI Student Workshops? Every first Wednesday of the month, our studio hosts a free workshop for students ages 16-20 looking to pursue the arts, specifically in film, photography, and digital media. Here you can explore, experiment and add to your portfolio!
Our next monthly workshop is Film Basics: Camera Movements on December 4th. This is an open photoshoot opportunity so please bring your camera!
